Oak Woodland
According to the Oak Grove
Environmental Impact Report, site vegetation consists primarily
of two plant communities: non-native grassland and blue-oak
woodland. Nearly all of the 12,000± oak trees catalogued on the
562-acre property are mature blue, valley and live oaks
clustered in natural oak groves located in valleys and on gently
rolling slopes, and away from the ridgelines.

By placing the 51 custom lots just
off the ridges and by designing the lots in a way to avoid
heritage oak trees, development at Oak Grove will affect just 58
heritage trees. Those 58 trees will be replaced by 410
mitigation oak trees planted to extend natural oak groves and to
help screen the new homes from adjacent neighborhoods. When
people buy custom lots and design their individual homes, a few
additional on-lot oak trees could be affected, but these small
losses will be mitigated by the planting of more than 600 new
oak trees on the 51 custom lots.
