The new park at Oak Grove
preserves 497 acres of open space in perpetuity. The landowners
will establish conservation easements over the 497 acres that
the City will own. These deed restrictions mean that the nearly
500-acre public park will become a permanent greenbelt
protecting Pleasanton’s southern boundary. The grasslands and
oak woodland habitats and the 12,000 oak trees at Oak Grove will
remain wild forever.
The beauty of the 12,000 oak
trees, gentle slopes, oak woodland habitat and Bay views is
difficult to describe. Once the park is created, Pleasanton
residents can go to Oak Grove and experience it themselves.
Until then, you can get a glimpse of the nature at Oak Grove through the
lens of local Realtor and photographer Dorian Glanville, community leader
Becky Dennis, trails advocate Dick Quigley and others in the slide show
below.
