The Park
The nearly 500 acre park at Oak
Grove will be Pleasanton’s largest park. It will be twice the
size of Augustin Bernal and three times the size of the Callippe
Preserve open space. The new city-owned park will be
open to the public. The landowner will build miles of hiking,
biking and equestrian trails, a link in the regional trail
connecting Callippe Preserve with Shadow Cliffs Regional Park
and an 11-car staging area that has a public bathroom. The
landowner will also establish conservation easements over the
new park and an endowment fund for maintenance that guarantees
that it will remain as open space in perpetuity.
The nearly 500-acre park at Oak
Grove is the cornerstone of a vision for a 2,000-acre permanent
greenbelt sealing Pleasanton’s southern boundary from any future
growth. Without the Oak Grove plan, there would be no new public
park, no public access to the southeast hills and the vision
would never become reality.
